I am selfish enough to not think about monastic living. The more I think about it, the more I feel like that’s the way I (and a lot of my friends) should live. Not necessarily separate from society - but trim my life back to the bare necessities and build up from there. Sometimes I feel that if you really want to get serious about sin and the affect that you have on the world, then being a monk is the way to live.
We’ve just gone through a lot of our budget. We’ve cut out a lot of crap that really isn’t going to affect our lifestyle in any way. It’s funny how things add up and won’t be missed. I guess it’s not so funny to think about the things I know I don’t need and won’t give up.

Also, I just read about a young couple that paid off all their debt and $250K home in 5 years by working extra jobs.
Now they’ve got $100K in income to do whatever they want with for the rest of their life.
