Have nothing to do with irreverent, silly myths. Rather train yourself for godliness; for while bodily training is of some value, godliness is of value in every way, as it holds promise for the present life and also for the life to come. (1Ti 4:7-8)
Just like getting in shape does not happen on its own or over night… being ‘godly’ does not either. It takes practice, daily repetition, and focus. When I signed up for my gym membership the thing that was stressed is that working out and getting in shape is a ‘lifestyle’. For me that requires change… my diet, my activity level, my schedule…etc.
The same thing is true for godliness. It will require change…Reading/Studying the bible, learning conversational prayer, confession and repentance. It requires schedule change… blocking off time to focus, read, pray, study, journal, etc.
I have been reading and meditating on 1 Timothy for a while… as it deals with Paul’s instruction to Timothy as a young pastor and what Timothy needs to focus on in his personal life and in his church and ministry.
