So today I finished reading ‘The Alchemist’. This book is VERY thought provoking about following your dreams and how to experience the journey. It is a quick read (4 hours or less). It would be a great book club or coffee house discussion group. Here is Wikipedia comments about the book.
The author proposes these 4 reasons why we do not pursue our dreams or calling…
1. As we grow up we accumulate layers of prejudice, fear, and guilt. We believe it is impossible.
2. We are afraid of hurting those we love if we abandon everything in order to pursue our dream.
3. Fear of defeats we might encounter if we try.
4. Fear of realizing the dream for which we have fought.
What are your dreams or calling? What drives you to live? Beyond work, bills, crap TV shows, crap music… beyond the daily grind. What do you day dream about? What are you passionate about?

I read this awhile back, and didn’t get nearly this much out of it. You’ve inspired me to go back and take a closer look . . . reading goes faster if you don’t sweat comprehension, y’know?
I should have intelligent comments in a few days.
