It looks like I have been accepted into Seminary. I appreciate those who pray for me about this major step. Please continue to lift me up to Jesus. There are tons of things I need wisdom on right now. Some specifics:
Finances: Each class cost approx. $180 + books. Example Systematic Theology requires 4 books, which according to amazon.com is going to be $65.00 +/- Some of the classes will require me to drive to the school which is off of I-459 between 280 and I-65. I feel directed to start looking for a less expensive, more fuel efficient vehicle. Preferably a Toyota truck or 4 Runner. I also am required by the school to purchase Logos Bible Software. Luckily I get it for 1/2 price which is still $690. At least they will break it down into payments. Also for this venture I need a Mac Book Pro. I have been planning on buying one for months now, however, it is a HUGE up-front financial commitment. I need to be mobile.
Schedule: I want to do this without pulling myself out of current ministry or neglecting my family. I will be able to take several classes in Huntsville. However, Road trips to B-ham are inevitable. I really struggle with the balance of Journey Group, Family Time, Study Time, Writing “Theological Papers”, reading 1000 page text books. I believe I have a clear call to be at Sojourn. I need big vision to see how school and Sojourn work together in my life. I need clear understating of priority. There is a clear call to teach 2 Tim.4:1-5. What things do I lay on the alter of sacrifice? Sleep, money, journey group, social life/events…
Job: I need a less stressful job. This one is killing me. I need something that is not “all consuming” mentally and emotionally. Full time pay with part time hours… does that exist? There have been those rare jobs that have allowed me to work on other pursuits during down times or at least given me a flexible schedule without killing the bank account. It would be nice to find one of those again.
Mental Clarity: I was looking over several class syllabus’ tonight and thought I was going to puke. Theological Papers as well as short Theological writing assignments. 1000 page reading assignments. It has been 10 years since I graduated college. The scholar tools might be a bit rusty.
