Playing on IPOD: American Beauty - Grateful Dead

It had been ages since I darkened the door of a library. I figured this would be a good alternative to buying books, DVD’s, and CD’s. Just walking in to the Main branch I got euphoric. The smell of books is intoxicating… Seriously. Someone thought their words were so important that went through the time and expense to write, publish and distribute their work. While I was their I picked up 2 books ‘The Monastery’ and ‘Lost Scriptures: Books that Did Not Make It into the New Testament’ by Bart Ehrman.

I am almost finished with ‘Misquoting Jesus: The Story Behind Who Changed the Bible and Why’ by Bart Ehrman. I think this book has been totally misrepresented in the media. While it is obvious there is a slant for the Alexandrian text-type, the book is a great history book. It is completely academic and leaves very little room for faith that God can preserve the scriptures. I have a hard time believing that God could be involved intimately in our lives yet would leave the preservation of his scriptures up to ‘happenstance’ or ’scribal evolution’.

Anyway… I find it interesting that I could go 8 days without a tension headache and as soon as I sit down at my desk the pain begins. I believe work is killing me. Seriously… The last 2 jobs I have had have effected my health in some way or another. Perhaps one of these days I will learn how to cope with it or I will find some line of work that is fulfilling and enjoyable.
