door of utterance..

I am getting excited about going on vacation. I so need at time to disengage from normal activities. It will be one of those deep breath moments…. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. It looks like we are going to have glorious weather. Mid 80’s and high 50’s for 9 whole days.

Last nights Journey Group was encouraging as we finished up the book of Colossians. We spent the majority of the time talking about prayer. I use to view prayer as a big laundry list of things to ask God to do for me and others. There were times, as others mentioned, where I thought God was waiting on me to pray so that he was provoked or prodded to move or act on my behalf. This is so far from what prayer really is… Prayer is simply conversation. It is growing in our relationship with God that we have a clearer insight to what his will is and what direction he is moving individually and corporately. Prayer is not aligning God to our desire it is us aligning our desire under his will.

God has been laying a geographic location on my heart every time I pray. The place is not relevant for me to reveal at this point, however, it is officially closed the gospel. Last night I was praying on the way home about the opportunity to do mission work and to carry the gospel into the country and what that might look like. It was very, very overwhelming. Would God really choose me to do this kind of work? There seem to be so many obstacles. This is one of those situations that God would clearly have open doors. It is not within my power or influence to make it happen. As I was praying Colossians 4:3 came to mind and I began to pray the verse…

“Withal praying also for us, that God would open unto us a door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ, for which I am also in bonds:”

I would invite you to pray with me that a “door of utterance, to speak the mystery of Christ” would be opened in this situation. There might possibly be opportunities for me to travel there this year. There are so many factors… It will be obvious if the door is open or shut.

  1. Praying and standing with you in God’s revelation about the country in question. I am taking the gospel to Tanzania in a few days - 16Jun. Pray for us and the rapid spread of the gospel.
