The Porter owns you!!!

I decided to drive around during lunch to clear my mind and pray. I needed to detox from ‘cube world’. Doing a good job, getting an excellent evaluation, and being a team player will get you dumped on, overloaded and overworked every time. Killing your star players makes perfect sense… Right…? <sigh>

I ended up at the ‘Christian’ book store on University. I don’t really like going to those kind of stores. It makes me feel like an effeminate, collector of Precious Moments figurines. Next, I might end up with a ‘Jesus fish’ sticker/logo on the back of my Jeep right above the ‘body modified’ logo that is next to the ‘churchinabrewery.com’ sticker. I love the response of the ‘brethren’ when ‘Mr. pierced, tattooed, beer-church’ walks in to buy a book. It is educational and entertaining. “And for my next trick I will eat your children for the glory of God…” Just kidding!!!

Anyway… Living in this perpetual state of tension, I was led to a book by Ed Stetzer called “Planting Missional Churches“. I am consumed with this subject. As I started reading the book it was like a volcano exploding in my soul. I am so stoked to be a part of a missional church plant. I cannot wait to get into the book deeper. I am a missionary to Huntsville/Madison… My life should be consumed with God’s mission for the city. Completely immersed in the culture… Give hope, love, guidance, acceptance, forgiveness… Salvation.

Theology Pub was amazing last night. God once again confirmed his plan and work in my life. We began discussing the “character qualifications” of Elders and Deacons. These are amazing guidelines to study, follow and observe in our lives. It was a good time.

By the way… I drank the last of the Olde Towne Porter… So now we will have to wait until the next ‘porter season’. DANG!!! FYI… The Pilsner rocks!!! But the Porter OWNS you!!! I need a tap at my desk <evil grin>
