The buzzing in my ears…

I cannot help to believe that my job really hinders me from God. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy the money. My Wife and kids REALLY enjoy it. Spiritually, however, it is like constant noise in my ears… let me explain. From 8:00-5:30 it is virtually non-stop. All day long there are problems, emails, meetings, “do this, do that”, weekly reports, monthly reports, phone calls. In my general area there are 20 other “co-workers” who are doing the same thing.

God is sovereign and I am here for his reason and his purpose. I just like it when I am able to hear him speak, when my head is clear from distractions.

I have been reading “Confessions” by St. Augustine. Such passion, and zeal, and hunger for God. I want to be like that… God is cultivating it in my life. It is a missional life.

God, through the spirit, was my teacher this morning at Kroger. I was running late for work. There was a guy in line who had $100 worth of groceries. He was trying to pay but his card was not working. As I was trying to find another register or self-checkout and as the frustration was increasing, it happened. As the guy was leaving WITHOUT his groceries God spoke and and said, “You should have paid for them… You should have comforted his embarrassment and paid for the groceries.” But it was too late. As I was walking out of the store I cannot help but to see the cart of groceries just sitting there. I could have been a blessing. I could have been like Jesus… but I missed it.

For the first time in my Christian journey, God said, “it is not your money, it is my money”. The overwhelming realization that everything I have is God’s. I am not the owner or anything. As I was driving to work I began to evaluate everything in my life. How am I using my my life and my stuff for the Kingdom of God? I began to evaluate the upcoming Jeep projects and thinking that there is a better way to spend the money.

My whole life is fixing to change… I feel it.
